This position is responsible for employing, supervising and training prisoners in carpentry with the aim of prisoners achieving skills and qualifications to access employment once released. Ideally applicants will have served a recognised apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery and/or have a recognised appropriate qualification at Level 3 or equivalent in woodwork. Ideally applicants will also have a relevant professional or vocational qualification such as PTLLS and the City and Guilds 730 Teaching Certificate or an A1/A2 Assessor and Verifier Award. A working knowledge of Health and Safety, a clean manual driving licence and IT experience is essential.
