A vacancy has arisen for the post of Chief Veterinary Officer for the Government of Jersey. The successful appointee to this permanent role will provide expert veterinary advice as the lead animal health and welfare professional to the Government of Jersey. The role addresses a wide range of issues, including terrestrial and aquatic animal disease control, animal husbandry and veterinary public health to protect the environment and economy against the effects of animal disease.
The post holder will require knowledge and understanding of the framework of national and international legislation together with the ability to apply controls which support trade in animals and animal products. They will develop and implement government policy and enforce related legislation using sound professional knowledge.
