Newborn Hearing Screener at States of Jersey
You will be responsible for providing a vital service to babies in the Maternity Unit. The job’s purpose is to contribute to a high quality, efficient and cost effective Audiology Service.
Newborn Hearing Screeners work together and with other professionals to test all newborn babies and identify those with moderate to profound permanent childhood hearing impairment (PCHI). A screener ensures that the equipment is working correctly, identifies babies which need to be tested, explains the procedure to the parent or guardian, performs the test, explains the results and the next steps, records the results, checks for ‘risk factors’ and refers the baby for further testing if appropriate.
